WHY: The decision to close a store is based on fiscal responsibility. The purpose of our thrift store is to provide funding for our Salvation Army services in Lane County. If a thrift store is not profitable, it doesn't provide the money needed for services in the community. When a store loses money, it takes funding away from our services.

(June 25, 2019) Eugene, OR – The Salvation Army announced this week that its Thrift Store in Eugene will close effective July 6, 2019.

The Thrift Store, located at 2065 W 7th Ave, Eugene, OR 97402 in Eugene has been operated by The Salvation Army for more than 20 years. The store’s employees were notified on June 24.

The decision to close a store is based on fiscal responsibility. "The purpose of our thrift stores is to provide funding for our Salvation Army services in Lane County," said Major John Tumey, County Coordinator for The Salvation Army in Lane County.

"If a store is not profitable, it doesn't provide the money needed for services in the community. When a store loses money, it takes funding away from our services.”

The Salvation Army in Lane County will continue serving those in need after the closure of the thrift store. The services are funded by donations from the community.

Services available at The Salvation Army in Lane County include food and utility assistance. By offering access to free, fresh produce and canned goods, we provide valuable meal supplementation while helping those in need maintain their independence and dignity. Last year, 9,509 people received assistance from The Salvation Army in Eugene.

The store will remain open through Saturday, July 6 until 5:30 PM. Store-wide clearance sale begins immediately through closing date of July 6. Daily shopping hours are Monday through Saturday 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM. Donations are no longer accepted at this location.
